The Las Vegas manufacturer of a white-powdered energy drink mix called Blow has stopped selling the product in Illinois.
That's after the state's attorney general sent a letter demanding it stop marketing in the state.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office says she is worried about the powder drink glamorizing drug culture for children. Blow creator Logan Gola of Kingpin Concepts, Inc., says he's just spoofing and mocking drug culture.
The drink mix has been for sale since July. Last year an energy drink called Cocaine taken off store shelves in Illinois.
Blow is a powdered energy drink mix aimed at ultra-hip party-goers. It comes in a vial of white powder - so you too can pretend you are popping some hard stuff into your drink.
From the maker:
“Blow is seductively cool, powerfully effective and our marketing is admittedly edgy.”
“Edgy” means marketing the vial of caffeine as a party drug, along with media promotions showing images of slutty women and pervy men. Not really edgy; the illicit drug thing has been done before - and as for the scantily clad ladies - well that’s as old as advertising itself.
Blow packs a punch: 240mg caffeine and 2000mg of Taurine
